Timber and Woods
The term ‘wood’ is used to refer to the substance that makes up the tree. It is the hard, fibrous structural tissue that is commonly found in the stems and roots of trees. The primary function of wood is to support the tree, enabling it to grow straight and tall enough to be able to absorb sunlight for photosynthesis. Wood also enables the transfer of water and nutrients to growing tissues and leaves. The term ‘timber’ is used to refer to the wood at any stage after the tree has been felled. This can include the raw material, also known as rough timber or the processed material.
Steel and Metals
The main difference between metal and steel is that metals are naturally occurring elements that are present in the Earth’s crust, while steel is an alloy made from metal. Ultimately, metal and steel are unique in their own way, learn more about them below. Steel, on the other hand, is an alloy made from iron metal—meaning without metal we wouldn’t have steel. This also means that steel is not technically a metal, but rather a variation of metal instead.
Cements
Cement manufacturing is a complex process that begins with mining and then grinding raw materials that include limestone and clay, to a fine powder, called raw meal, which is then heated to a sintering temperature as high as 1450 °C in a cement kiln. There are four stages in the manufacture of portland cement: (1) crushing and grinding the raw materials, (2) blending the materials in the correct proportions, (3) burning the prepared mix in a kiln, and (4) grinding the burned product, known as “clinker,” together with some 5 percent of gypsum
Safety Items
Wearing a helmet offers protection and can prevent head injuries. Select a sturdy helmet that is adapted to the working conditions. These days you can find many elegant designs and you can choose extra options such as an adjustable interior harness and comfortable sweatbands. The eyes are the most complex and fragile parts of our body. Each day, more than 600 people worldwide sustain eye injuries during their work. Thanks to a good pair of safety glasses, these injuries could be prevented. Do you come into contact with bright light or infrared radiation? Then welding goggles or a shield offer the ideal protection! Do you work in an environment with high sound levels? In that case it is very important to consider hearing protection.
Plumbing Items
The simplest set of tools that you may have for basic plumbing jobs include an adjustable wrench, fire-resistant cloth, hacksaw, pipe wrench, pliers, plunger, propane torch, and safety glasses. These tools can be used to do basic work, such as unclogging a drain, changing a faucet or soldering two pipes together. Plumbing system means the water supply and distribution pipes plumbing fixtures and traps soil, waste, and vent pipes sanitary and storm sewers and building drains, including their respective connections, devices, and appurtenances within the premises
Gypsum Partition
Gypsum plasterboards are a suitable and sustainable alternative to most other wall types. These are durable, soundproof, fire-resistant, and cost-efficient compared to many other materials you can use for your partition wall. They ensure high aesthetic value and help improve the efficiency of the space available. Due to its inherent fire resistance, gypsum board, commonly known as drywall is the premier building material for wall, ceiling, and partition systems in residential, institutional, and commercial structures.
Scaffoldings
Scaffolding, also called scaffold or staging, is a temporary structure used to support a work crew and materials to aid in the construction, maintenance and repair of buildings, bridges and all other man made structures. Electrical Items
The items used in domestic and industrial electrical wiring are called electrical accessories, example switch, holder, socket, plug-top, ceiling rose, fuse cut-out etc. A holder is used with a lamp, a ceiling rose is used with a ceiling fan, tube light or a pendant lamp. Electrical appliances are powered by an electrical current from a power source, while electronic appliances use numerous circuits and contain more complex systems. Another feature that electrical and electronic devices share is that they use electrical current or electromagnetic fields as a power source.
Paints
Paint is any pigmented liquid, liquefiable, or solid mastic composition that, after application to a substrate in a thin layer, converts to a solid film. It is most commonly used to protect, color, or provide texture to objects. Paint can be made or purchased in many colors—and in many different types, such as watercolor or synthetic. Paint is typically stored, sold, and applied as a liquid, but most types dry into a solid. Most paints are either oil-based or water-based and each has distinct characteristics. For one, it is illegal in most municipalities to discard oil-based paint down household drains or sewers.
Hardware
Household hardware (or simply, hardware) is equipment that can be touched or held by hand such as keys, locks, nuts, screws, washers, hinges, latches, handles, wire, chains, belts, plumbing supplies, electrical supplies, tools, utensils, cutlery and machine parts. A hardware store typically sells hand and power tools, building materials, fasteners, keys, locks, hinges, chains, electrical supplies, plumbing supplies, cleaning products, housewares, utensils, and paint.
